TOPIC:    Setting the Standard, Yoke Bearer not a yoke sharer.
TITLE: Different Yokes, for Different Folks
                                     Pastor Peyton Harrison Jr.

Matthew 11:29-30King James Version (KJV)

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Times have changed drastically since I was a kid. Those times weren’t PERFECT, just memorable and cherishing and encouragement for the heart.

I did a Facebook Post to honor my Dad and I found numerous pictures of my father and I, that brought a smile to my face and warmth to my heart.

The pictures captured moments in my childhood that were linked to instructions and standards that I remembered from my Daddy.
Like the pictures of me picking cotton with my brother and cousins, having fun but receiving lessons in focused discipline to have fun but to be diligent, faithful and watchful of not harming the harvest.
More Lessons about hard work, worshipping GOD, being responsible, guarding your reputation,  understanding purpose from the Seed to the Harvest

The work started when the roaster crowed, we would move quickly to slop the hogs, feedbag the horses, take the cows to market and then bring to them to grazing pasture and then head to the cotton fields for harvest, and stop at noon because of the heat and resumed in the afternoon until the sun went down.

We would work 6 days like that, and then prepare ourselves and clothes for early morning 1 mile walk to church for Sunday morning Sunday School class, Worship, fish fry supper, then afternoon worship, BTU, dinner, and then evening worship service that only ended when the Holy Ghost lifted from the service.

This was my summer vacation for many years; enjoyable, hard work but I learned many lessons about life, its challenges and GOD!
  1. I learned different yolks for different folks.
  1. When plowing the land to prepare for cotton, horses need a horse collar to help distribute the load evenly when pulled, many times with blinders so they wont be distracted.
Oxen because of their temperament wore a single-beam sometimes doubled head yoke which fixes the heads of the oxen apart, helping them to work quietly without fighting.
  1. As an oxen grows and matures his single beam Yoke is readjusted for comfort for him to be able to move a load/burden with less resistance and frustration and greater productiveity;
  1. When the yolk is set right on your shoulders you can move and carry your load.
  1. PURPOSE; the oxen understood their purpose as work animals, certain horses were categorized as workhorses and were trained for that purpose.
  1. Please understand that the YOKE IS NOT the burden!  That is a figure of speech.
  1. BUT The yoke is the device that helps you to ergonomically maximaze the dynamics of your strength to PULL your burden, and to SHOULDER your burden.
  1. Please understand that the yoke is not a CHOKE collar, There is room to adjust , wiggle room to adjust your neck and shoulders to feel comfortable in pulling your load.
  1. Please note Different Yoke for Different FOLK!
You don’t put a  horse collar on an oxen and DON’T put a single wooden bean yoke on a horse, their shoulders are built differently!

That is why you must be YOKE BEARER of your OWN yoke and not a YOKE sharer.   Setting the Standard

Your yoke is meant for your shoulders, not be shared by somebody else.

Ever since Adam and Eve were escorted out of the garden our burdens had sifted to tilling the land, making a living from the land, dealing with the chaos of the world, dealing with unhealthy and unequally yoked relationships, dealing with the yoke of 9-5 job, dealing with the yokes of sickness and worry about the future.

Ask yourself this question:

Do you know your yoke?    Is your yoke comfortable.    Many times it is my burden that is the problem, so I have to adjust my yoke!

The yoke reminds me that this is MY burden that I am pulling,

My yoke reminds me of whom I am serving, of my ownership!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20New King James Version (NKJV)

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your bodya]">[a] and in your spirit, which are God’s

John 15:16  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

My yoke reminds me of my PURPOSE.
My yoke reminds me of my STRENGTH.
My yoke reminds me that GOD will not put more on me than I can bear!
My yoke reminds that when the BURDEN gets heavy, just readjust your yoke and keep moving!
  • There is some freedom in the yoke, it is NOT a choke collar

John 10:10 “Yet Jesus says that I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. “

Yet Jesus says;

Matthew 11:29-30 King James Version (KJV)

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Look at how the Message BIBLE tells the story”

The Message bible:
Matthew 11:29-30

28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me.
Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.
I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

This is the formula for being a YOKE bearer and not a yoke sharer!
  1. The first thing to do is to KNOW and apply the reality that we are yoked with Christ.
2. Remember a yokes purpose is to evenly distribute the weight of the burden so that it can be handled and handled lightly.
  1. When we are yoked together in the body of Christ, plowing the spiritual field, going in the same direction, it makes the load lighter, it brings forth more fruit.
More folk working, more work accomplished, greater productivity, greater blessings, greater provisions! ….and you get fat in GOD!

Learn about the one you are yoked with….Jesus.
Look what the word says: Look who we are yoked with…

Isaiah 53:4-6New King James Version (NKJV)
Surely He has borne our griefs………..Have you been sad lately, hurt?
And carried our sorrows;   YOKE TIME
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
Somebody needs to say ; HEALED in the name of Jesus, my yokefellow

                    THE MESSGE BIBLE:

But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him,
that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He took the punishment, and that made us whole.
Through his bruises we get healed.
We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost.
We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way.
And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong,
    on him, on him.

Psalm 26:3
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
YOKED IN PEACE.
  1. My Yoke is Easy and my burden is light!
Who or WHAT are you yoked with?  Friends, things of life, job, career?

Depending on who or what you are yoked with, will determine the heaviness of your burden and your ability to fulfill your purpose in GOD.

We don’t carry our burdens like the world, we carry them YOKED TO CHRIST, YOKED to the kingdom, YOKED to being about my fathers business…which brings a lighter burden.

Every now and then I have to encourage myself and remind myself who I am yoked with….  I have to put the blinders of faith on my eyes so that I don’t get distracted in my purpose and find MYSELF yoked to the wrong things…..jealousy, tiredness, worldliness, complaining, rebelliousness.

  1. greater is HE that is in me, than HE that is in the World.

  1.  The yoke is getting lighter now when I go to Phillipians 4:11, not that I speak in regard to need for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.

  1. 1 Thessalonians, 5:16 The Yoke is feeling bit better now….In all things give thanks, rejoice always, Pray without ceasing, Don’t quench the Spirit, HOLD FAST To what is GOOD!

  1. Stay focused, don’t be distracted 2 Timothy 4:8 there is laid up for ME, a crown of righteousness which the LORD will give to me on that Day to all who have loved HIS apprearance.

  1. Yoke is feeling lighter… Jude reminds me as I am bearing my yoke…
    Jude 24-25    The Message (MSG)

24-25 And now to him who can keep you on your feet, standing tall in his bright presence, fresh and celebrating—to our one God, our only Savior, through Jesus Christ, our Master, be glory, majesty, strength, and rule before all time, and now, and to the end of all time. Yes.
BUT there is something more with the OLD tradition King James that resonates in my SOUL!

Now unto HIM who is Able to keep you from falling and to present you fautless, before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to God our Saviour, who alone is wise,
    be GLORY and majesty,
    donminion and power
     both NOW and forever,   AMEN!

                   Setting the Standard……YOKE BEARER!

There is something satisifying about finishing the work. There is something joyful about the WAY you work,
     I love what Sam Cooke said;
First how does the message bible say it:

  1. If I walk in the pathway of duty,
If I work till the close of the day,
I shall see the great King in His beauty,
When I’ve gone the last mile of the way.
    • Refrain:
When I’ve gone the last mile of the way,
      I will rest at the close of the day;
And I know there are joys that await me,
When I’ve gone the last mile of the way.
  2. And if here I have earnestly striven,
And have tried all His will to obey,
’Twill enhance all the rapture of heaven,
When I’ve gone the last mile of the way.

                                                               Sermon Title: “GIVE THANKS!”
Apostle David Watkins, Preaching

Scriptures: Phil. 4:6, 1 Thess 5:18, 1 Chron. 16:34-35, Ps, 17:17, Ps. 28:7, 2 Cor. 9:11-12 1 Tim 4:4 and  Ps. 37:4

Golden Nuggets:
2 reasons to come to church: to give thanks with praise and worship and to learn more about how to serve God and to share the gospel
Praise is a way to give God thanks with your hands!
Get God’s attention by giving Him thanks! (Wave your hands in praise like someone trying to get another person’s attention)
Things to thank GOD for: salvation, GCCC, children, health, spouse, grace and mercy, job, house, I’m still here, etc.
There is power in thanksgiving!
Praise is thanksgiving! You can change the word praise to thanks!
Giving thanks show our gratitude!
Use thanksgiving EVERYDAY
When we thank God, He shows up and touches (Song: He touched me!)
Giving thanks is a WEAPON to overcome our trials!
When you need something, give something: when you need something, give GOD thanks!
Thanksgiving prevents attacks of the enemy and sets up ambushments against him!
Wait on the Lord like a waiter and not idly. Ash God, “What can I do for you today? What do you want of me today, Lord?”
GET GOD’s ATTENTION WITH YOUR THANKSGIVING! “It’s me, it’s me, it’s me O Lord! Standing in the need of prayer!”
It is a blessing to be able to give!
WE give thanks not only so that we be blessed , but so that others can be blessed as well!
Some people WISH they could to through the trials you are going through! Ex: Some people who don’t have a house WISH they could be in a place to go thru losing a house!
Be with Jesus in heaven is Better than this life on Earth!

Pentecost Sermon
Apostle David Watkins

                                                    “Pentecost: The Feast of Weeks”
Deuteronomy 16:9-17

Golden Nuggets:

You will give a free will according to the blessings of the Lord.
Come and let’s have a party and rejoice before the Lord our God.
Today is a day of worship!
The bible tells us not to despise the weak, the weak should not despise the strong
I wanted to put myself into subjection, that’s why I fast
Put away something to get control of the flesh
When you fast for God you get stronger, don’t fats only to lose some weight
Deut. 16:16Three times a year shall the male appear before the Lord
There is a vision for each church and the people are needed to carry out the vision
Vow that every Sunday, you will call someone to make certain that they get to church
Make a vow to bring someone to church, share the gospel
Some may be missing church because you did not call them
Time is telling you when to do things and what to do, we are not able o do everything that we want to do
You have to go to bed when you are not tired, to get up and work
Pastor was forced to go to church until I got my own place, his mother forced him
The Feast of Tabernacles, they lived in tents until they got to the promised land
Deut. 16:17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.
Deuteronomy 16:16 The Feast of Weeks, Feast of the Tabernacles, do not appear before the Lord empty
Leviticus 25:35-37 On the first day shall be a holy convocation
A solemn assembly is another gathering of the saints
Jacob had a name change to Israel. There have been fights for the birthright
Jacob means heel catcher or back stabber
The purpose of Pentecost is for the Lord to bless your harvest
Acts 1:8 The Holy Spirit
What is your Harvest? Where does your income come from?
Leviticus 23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’s Passover.
Jesus is the Passover Lamb, fifteenth day is the Feast of the unleavened bread

Sermon Notes
Apostle David Watkins

Sermon Title: “Walking In Truth”

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The best evangelism, tell people that you are a Christian then live in it
We daily fail in trying to show man how they should walk in Christ
John 18:31 For this purpose I have come into the world
The gospel is the truth
Why did you get saved?
We have been distracted by the things that are in the world
We have been distracted by pain, our jobs, relationships
We have been distracted by life, by family
Distracted to the point to where we forgot why we have been saved.
We feel that God came to give us stuff
We have lost our faith in God because we did not receive the promises

The reason that Jesus came was to save us
He did not come to give us the best job ever
We say we want a goodman,
when we get one we want to be delivered
We want prayer for jobs, we pray to get out of the job
We pray for a car and then we want God to take it out
We change our hair color, buy more hair and want a change in one month
We have forgotten why we received the Lord
We go to church and feel good, then within three years we want to leave
You have said, I am the head and not the tail, but you are wagging
Why do we take on the characteristics of crabs? Almost getting out of the pot
In our marriage constantly pulling one another down
Jealous of our spirituality, we are ready to leave the Lord
We come crying to one another, our family is going through, someone on drugs, going through divorce
Always something
in this earth, I am being attacked constantly
Why did God send Jesus?
What do you want?
Only one reason, I accepted Jesus! I did not want
ot go to hell. I wanted to go to heaven

Why do you have to die?
For this
purpose I came into the world, for this reason I gave my life
Stop complaining about your life!
Stop murmuring bad things will happen, some are going through worse things that you! Give him thanks!
I thank
you Father, because you are God! You are the only true and living God!
Continue to thank the lord despite what you are going through.
We are blessed because we serve a mighty God!
I rejoice greatly when the children of God prosper
Look at yourself, when you looked at God first your soul began to prosper
You got excited about Jesus!
You only got saved to get to Heaven! You are still on your way to heaven if you do not lose your faith
Just remember, you lost your joy because you forgot
Jesus said, Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but I will deliver them out of them all
Remember why you invited Jesus into your life!
I received the Lord, come into my life, I did not know that God chose me!
I did not know that I was drawn by the Holy Spirit
My soul is prospering!!!! My soul is what needs to proper
I am not concerned about the nice car.
Stop putting things first

When I chose the things of this world
Matthew 6:21
Whatever you treasure that is where your heart is
The young people are old now
I remember your zeal in the Lord, then you got older and you began to get a job, find a mate, had babies, more babies, house, furniture, distracted! The more you wanted, the more distraction
Then you were not with God like we were in the beginning.
My own place, big screen, play games….
I remember the zeal before you grew up and took on life
There was only thing that happened in our lives
Now we only want stuff!!!!!
You are being tricked, bamboozled into thinking about this world.
Very few things distracted us in the good ole days!
I was satisfied with getting out of school and getting a job! You can be anything that you want
ot be now.
It is hard to look back and see how far we have come
How do we walk in God?
Romans 13:14
I John 2:16
No provision for the flesh
Our desires as a living thing……best job ever, education, etc.

Choose God first above all
There is nothing wrong with seeking out good things in life but it is sin if we desire it more than God
Every time we get a step higher, we get pulled down because we do not seek it first.
God is able to bless you if you just remember…
Just remember, when your boss threatens yu.
Remember who saved you, who will deliver you, your promoter
I am not afraid!!!!! You can have this whole world, just give me Jesus!
I will be with Jesus!
Stop being afraid, remember from where you came
All that is in the world is the pride of life
I want the best, I want what I see….
The happiest person does not have much!
I John 2:16
Just because things are not going well, you forget why you are saved.
You received salvation to go to Heaven and not Hell!
I will pray for you to prosper spiritually!!!!!
Remember!!!

God is Over All
Sunday, May 14, 2017 – Mother’s Day
Sermon Title: “From Weeping to Worship!”
Senior Assoc. Pastor Deborah Williams, Preaching

Foundational Scripture:
I Samuel 1:18-19

Scriptural References:
I Samuel 1:18-19, I Samuel 1:10-17, I Samuel 1:10, I Samuel 1:18-28, I Samuel 1:26-27, I Samuel 1:28, I Samuel 2:1-10, Psalm 30:5

Golden Nuggets:
Hannah was a woman with a heavy burden and a unrealized dream
She was childless and was teased by her husbands other wife
One day she had a life changing experience
What kind of woman was Hannah?
What can we learn from her testimony?
She was a prayer warrior
She prayed so hard that others thought that she was drunk
Eli prophesied that she would have a child
She wept
Hannah made a promise unto the Lord
She promised that she would give her child to God
Hannah stopped weeping and worshipped God
What is our response when God does not answer our prayers?
Hannah continued to praise and worship the Lord
She praised for his holiness
She praised for his faithfulness
She praised the Lord for his power
She praised for the Lord’s compassion
She praised for His present and future victories
Hannah’s heart still moves us to praise
Grace Mothers have powerful testimonies
We are compelled to worship God
There’s a Mother’s Movement going on

We are trapped in the blessings
I am mad at God
I have been here along time
Some have fought a good fight
Commercials, the morals are changing more and more
When I was young, I did not worry about a lot of things
All I can think about is growing up
I remember the good ole days, in our youth we had no cares
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want
My parents are my Shepherd
Why did God send Jesus?
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever beleiveth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
We should pray about the other situations.
We have forgotten how to pray
We use the things that are pulling at us as a reason why we don’t walk in the truth
III John 1:2
Your soul must first prosper
Even as…in the same manner
You must prosper in the Lord
It is not to have the best marriage ever
It is not for financial stability
We are trying to attain peace
If you want peace that surpasses all understanding,

it is Jesus
Why don’t we down grade?
Get an electric car’
I will sell all and get a little tend and live good
There are a lot of homeless who are satisfied
Peace is a state of mind
If I am happy where I am then I am rich
We are working harder today, we are at work so hard we get sick
Trying to get somewhere, there was a time when we believed that God would make a way
I am going to live for God, then die and go to heaven
God will bless you! I served him for who he was, I didn’t know that as I prosper in him that he would bless me in the flesh.
God will prosper you, if you will put him first.
Meditate on why you got saved!
You don’t have to give God a dime, you need to give him some time
The Bank of the Lord! Jesus is the only one giving out money
Jesus is making money for us
I need a little more Jesus, people would run to the altar!
III John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
We have been distracted from the things of the world
I can’t wait to get to church, I just hate he getting up

part
We forgot the reason that Jesus came!
You will murmur and complain about what is going on in your life
Unless your recruiter lied to you! My recruiter did not lie to me!
I was told, than when you mess up, if you confess your sins, he is faithful and just to forgive all your sins
We did not get saved to get rich
There will always be poor!
Everyone that accepted him should get rich
Trying to get to that place of comfort, after I die
What am I going to do when I am eighty?
“We use to…”
Jesus you have gone too far, eat your flesh and drink your blood
Jesus refused to explain himself
God didn’t want thousands of people when he died
He wanted to weed out those who would sow discord
I am the bread of life, he that will eat my flesh and drink my blood
Thousands turned on him, will you leave me also?
I would ask, are you leaving? Where would I go, you have he words to eternal life
I have twelve, and one of you is a devil
Who is the devil among us?
A lot of things Jesus did, they were confused

Golden Nuggets:
Watch is defined as to look at or observe attentively
To remain awake for the purpose of religious observance
Carefully observing someone or something over a period of time
Watch were assigned as a duty responsible for guarding
Watching was a serious duty, the eyes and ears of the city
God took this assignment seriously
First watch 6:00pm-9:00pm when the sun sets
At the evening those diseased were brought to Jesus to be healed
The first watch has great significance, a time for carrying out the anointing of the day
Those who pray in the first watch have an anointing to break into new things
Second watch 9:00pm-12:00am Praying in the second watch is strategic
The first watch has established goals
The second watch is to take the momentum of the first watch forward
It is the watch to pray without ceasing
The Third watch 12:00am-3:00am This covers the darkest part of night
Known as the “Bewitching hour”
The forces of darkness try to take control
During this watch demonic forces will strike
The Fourth Watch 3:00am-6:00am Jesus walked on water
We pray for the activities of the day ahead
We bind the work of the enemy in the spirit
We work hard during this watch
We pray for prosperity during this watch
The question is: “What Time Is It?”
Time to preach the Word
Time to watch and pray
Time to return unto the Lord
Time for God’s people to humble themselves, pray and seek his face
Time to live as new creatures
Time to endure light affliction
Time to trust God, time to stand strong in the Lord
It is time to prepare for his coming

There is SomeThing About The 4th  Watch

Scripture-“In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.”
Matthew‬ 28:1-2‬ KJV‬

“But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.”
Matthew‬ 14:24-27‬ KJV‬‬

“I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”
Proverbs‬ 8:17‬ KJV‬‬

“With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.”
Isaiah‬ 26:9‬ KJV‬‬

What is the forth watch?

“Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
Mark‬ 13:35-37‬ KJV‬‬

The Jewish day began at 6:00 a.m. and finished at 6:00 p.m. The night watch began at 6:00 p.m. and ended at 6:00 a.m. The night watch was broken up into four time periods of three hours each. Mark 13:35 names the watches:

First Watch -- the evening (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.)
Second Watch -- at midnight (9:00 - midnight)
Third Watch -- at the crowing of the rooster (midnight - 3:00 a.m.)
Fourth Watch -- the morning watch (3:00 - 6:00 a.m.)

It's also said to be the darkest time right before day.
In the midst of the storm

Often times in our life we feel, low, confused, and even if God is with us. We have test and trails. In our in families, on the job, with our finances, with our health, with our children.

The discplies were lost confused and scared. They found themselves like us in the midst of storm.
Have you ever had a storm in your life? The fourth watch is coming.

What we have to realize is these Four things.

Jesus is with you“Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew‬ 28:20‬ KJV‬‬

There is always a plan. Jer 29:11

My thoughts are not your thoughts“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah‬ 55:8-9‬ KJV‬‬

It always works to the good “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
Romans‬ 8:28-32‬ KJV‬‬

There is something about the forth watch
Joshophat sent forth the singers in the Forth Watch “And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever. And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.”
2 Chronicles‬ 20:20-25‬ KJV‬‬

Paul and Silas were freed in the 4th watch Acts 16, they prayed at midnight, but it wasn't till the 4th watch they were freed. “And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go. And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace. But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.”

Daniel was in the lions den“Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee. And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel. Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him. Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions. And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.”

Resurrection Sunday
Apostle David Watkins

He Lived, He Died, He Rose!

Golden Nuggets:
Matthew 26:74
Peter began to lie and curse
Acts 2:14-15 Peter standing up with the eleven, for these are not drunk as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
John 20:25 Thomas said unless I see the hands print of the nails, and the nails thrust into his side, I will not believe
The gospel is hidden unto the lost
The disciples said that we have seen the Lord
Paul when he was called Saul he hated Christians
Acts 21:11 I punished them and was exceedingly evil, this was Paul
Acts 9:1 And Saul, yet breathing out threats and slaughter against the disciples….
Acts 9:2 ….that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto…..
Pilate had to tell Caesar that he had killed the one that could heal him
You killed the healer
The disciples did not believe that Jesus rose from the dead
Men were built to fight
Women were not built to fight but they are always on the front line
While the men were locked up, women went to the grave sight
Matthew 24:10 Mary Magdalene, and others went with them their word seemed like idol tales and they believed them not
Jesus explained that he would come back
The disciples were in a locked room
The disciples were afraid, lock the doors
Until Jesus showed up, he was not resurrected then we heard the biggest lie that was ever told
Matthew 27:62 The next day following the preparation of the Passover
We remember that the deceiver said after three days he would rise again
Mark 14:58 I will destroy the temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands
Matthew 27:65 Pilate said unto them, ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
First watch 6-9 am, second watch 9-12, third watch
1-3pm fourth watch 3-6pm
Jesus always shows up at the fourth watch
Mathew 14:26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, it is a spirit; and they cried out for fear
I believe that we are in the fourth watch!
We are in the last days, we are in the fourth watch, we must watch and pray
They made it to the tomb
I Corinthians 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many might not many noble, are called:
Soldiers, Roman watch were about four soldiers
After the Resurrection the disciples became fearless after Jesus showed up
Once Jesus showed up there was no more fear
Not one of the disciples went to assist him
Someone would go and say something
Some walked in the authority of the Lord, some will start rebuking in the name of Jesus
The disciples tried to sneak, even if all the disciples all slept by the tomb.
You can’t sleep through someone to try to move the stone
Put the soldiers to sleep, with sleeping sauce
The disciples, they were around his same age
The old people trying to move the stone
Try to carry a body, it is heavy, the soldiers coming after you…
It does not make sense that they stole the body
He rose, he lives, he died!
You must tell people that our God is alive!
Our God is alive, he reigns, he lives!
He has given us all power over the grave
He’s alive again
When the angel pushed that stone away, he looked at those poor souls
The soldiers got so scared, they fell
Matthew 28:4 And for the fear of him the keepers…..
Matthew 28:2 And behold there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from Heaven, and came and rolled back the stone
Matthew 28:3
The angels sat upon the rock and looked at them, scared them to death
They shook and fell as dead men!
Matthew 28:4….and became as dead men
Mary was there and saw it
He rose!
He lived! He died and He rose!
If not we heard the greatest lie ever told!

Palm Sunday sermon   April 7, 2017    Peyton Harrison Jr
Scripture: Matthew 21:1-3

The Triumphal Entry
21 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage,[a] at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
                                VERSE 9-11
Nearly all the people in the crowd threw their garments down on the road, giving him a royal welcome. Others cut branches from the trees and threw them down as a welcome mat. Crowds went ahead and crowds followed, all of them calling out, “Hosanna to David’s son!” “Blessed is he who comes in God’s name!” “Hosanna in highest heaven!”
10 As he made his entrance into Jerusalem, the whole city was shaken. Unnerved, people were asking, “What’s going on here? Who is this?”
11 The parade crowd answered, “This is the prophet Jesus, the one from Nazareth in Galilee.”

  SUBJECT:   MY HOPE, MY FAITH

My 19 year old cousin who is at a Christian College studying to be a full time worship leader at a church had the following conversation with me just recently.

I asked him what are they teaching about being a worship leader. This was his list in summary…

Worship service is only 1 hour long
The songs are visually and graphically displayed and are contemporary up beat and short.
The sermon is 20 minutes.
There is no offering appeal, or offering plate, it is done by text or by PayPal. It is casually announced on the TV screens or you can place cash on the altar as the spirit moves you.
Ministry is done in cell groups, Worship is for spiritual strengthening and creating unity in the community.
Bible study varies but mainly is done on FB live or video chat sessions.
Preachers preach with IPods not manuscripts.
Pastors or ministers do NOT sit in the pulpit
Pastors and ministers do NOT wear pastoral robes with the correct liturgical vestments, they wear blue jeans, Jacket and T-shirt.
Praise Team has least than 10 singers and NO CHOIRS!

Then he said those words of youthful honesty yet hedging on disrespect to me, Cousin Peyton you were great for your time in preaching and liturgical worship but now you are obsolete.  You are old!

                    MY FAITH.

OK everybody climb into my preaching vehicle and ride with me for awhile.
                My FAITH/ MY HOPE

I love my cousin, but he has not lived long enough to understand the character of my faith is built on my life experiences, my interaction with GOD, my salvation in Christ, my born again and holy ghost infilling.
                  MY FAITH/MY HOPE!

I understand the reality of the six living generations,
the G.I generation born from 1901-1926,
The Mature or Silent Generation born 1927-1945,
The Baby Boomers generation born 1946-1964,
Generation X born 1965-1980,
Generation Y the Millennium born 1981-2000,
Generation Z the Boomlets born after 2001!

Understand that each generation was defined by their history, their struggles, their fears in and of the world, their encounters, their need of church and symbols that pointed toward GOD as a way of HOPE and trust.  The songs, the hymns were indigenous of their struggles of that generation.

…..and so when the Generation Y, the Millennium children tell me that Palm Sunday is nice, it is a colorful story of pageantry, cultural celebration filled with tension between Jesus and the Spiritual leaders temple, but we prefer Easter with the Easter Baskets and all of that stuff and of course Jesus resurrection.  ………..…..BUT MY FAITH Says….You don’t FULLY understand…….

See Palm Sunday is the processed road to Resurrection Sunday!
You have to experience Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday to enjoy and SHOUT on Resurrection Sunday morning!

“And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.

From the beginning of time, people have been looking for a change in their life circumstances,
People need a job change that will help them to be at church on Sunday on time,
Some folk need encouragement to change their low self-esteem problems,
Some people need a hug every now and then to feel secure in an insecure world.  They need a change…..

Palm Sunday was the preliminary celebration of a change, a preamble to the separation of human time from B.C to A.D.

Palm Sunday is important because it fulfilled the prophesy of Zechariah Chapter 9 where it says

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion;
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem:
Behold, thy King cometh unto thee:
He is just, and having salvation;
lowly, and riding upon an ass,
and upon a colt the foal of an ass!

But lets take a moment to examine the deeper meaning and image of the donkey!

Upon scholarly review, the donkey represented the human condition, it represented the character of sinful man!  Quickly, let me exegete this!

Look at Luke 19:33,
And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?    Hear the words…the owners
This is important because if the donkey had at least two owners you can be sure they were poor.
The donkey didn’t belong to some rich landowner for whom the donkey was just another possession and he wouldn’t be too worried if one of his donkeys when missing for a week.
The donkey, I would suggest to you was a prize possession of at least two poor people. So the donkey would have had to be a sizeable investment for each owner.
So WHY would the owners would have parted with such an investment to complete strangers - the disciples.
The only reasonable explanation is that the expression “The Lord needs it"

2. Secondly, The donkey was found in a place of crossroads…Mark 11:4 “found the colt tied by the door without in a place, where two ways met, and they loosed him!

Have you every been at the crossroads of life! Humanity was at the crossroads having to decide whom they will serve!
It is the Joshua experience

Joshua 24:15King James Version (KJV)
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

3. Thirdly The donkey was found in a place of crudeness! Matthew 21:1
The donkey was found at  Bethphage, near the Mount of Olives.
Bethphage means the house of crudeness, or the house of the unripe fig!. It is undeveloped!

4. Notice the donkey’s personality, a donkey is known for being stubborn but this donkey had not even been broken in!

Therefore in summary Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey that was not tamed, free spirited, rebellious, not used to being ridden, not willing to carry a burden, BUT JESUS rode the donkey into the noise of the celebration with humility and POWER!
This donkey that represented the character of humanity, Jesus rode him, broke him, for EVERY knee shall bow and EVERY TONQUE CONFESS! Every natural and unnatural MUST submit to GOD!

In the midst of this scenario there is seemingly a contradictions of terms here, humility and power, lowliness and power, they just don’t seem to go together!
But the most powerful men I have met, were unassuming, they didn’t wear gold chains and fancy watches, but there was power in their spirit!

Jesus was meek and lowly but he had power, look at Zechariah the 9th chapter, the 10th verse, you might have thought that Jesus was soft….but he rode HARD!

Look at the scripture about Jesus!

And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim,
and the horse from Jerusalem,
and the battle bow shall be cut off:
and he shall speak peace unto the heathen:
and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea,
and from the river even to the ends of the earth

Please understand NOW the fullness and POWER of our textual scripture again.
Jesus was riding with authority and power, let me translate it for you in contemporary 2017 language!

If somebody says something to you, You TELL THEM THE LORD needs it, and they will obey!

MY FAITH, MY HOPE!

When word got around that Jesus was coming to the Festival, the crowds in Jerusalem and suburbs swelled in numbers from 50,000,
to 5 hundred thousand plus, because those who had been touched by Jesus,
Those who had witnessed his miracles,
Those who heard his teachings,
Those who thought he was going to overthrown the government,
Those who wanted to fight with them, meet him at the gateway of Jerusalem…
With different expectations, ready to celebrate, ready to party BECAUSE  CHANGE WAS IN THE AIR,  NEWNESS.  HOPE!   VICTORY!

look at Matthews 21:9

And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying,
Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?   It was JESUS~
So they threw down their garments of commonness to the ground, they cut down branches from the trees,
threw down palm branches that represented deliverance, triumph, victory and hope!

And cried out Hosanna, to the son of David, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.   Hosanna Means SAVE NOW!
Psalm 118:25 historically foreshadows this event, SAVE NOW, I beseech Thee O lord, Send now prosperity!  Beseech means urgently, fervently do something!

MY FAITH is not in Man, My Faith is not in the White House, But My Faith is built on nothing less than Jesus  blood and his righteousness………

SAVE NOW,
FREE ME NOW,
BLESS ME NOW
HEAL ME, NOW
CLEAN ME NOW

Anybody need a change,
Wave your palm of victory,
Wave your palm of surrender,
Need a job NOW,
Need peace NOW
Need JOY NOW
NEE LOVE NOW
NEED DIRECTION NOW
NEED HEALING NOW!

HOSANNA hosanna, blessed is the name of the Lord

                      THAT’S MY FAITH, MY HOPE!
